Scientific and Methodological Seminar

On April 22, the Department of Documentation Science and Information Activity held a scientific and methodological seminar “Current Issues of Document Science: History and Present.”

According to the program of the seminar, the scientific event took place online as part of the Science Days.

The purpose of the scientific and methodical seminar was to highlight and discuss current issues in the field of information and documentation, including training of highly qualified specialists in demand in the modern labor market, the functioning of modern libraries and archival institutions, public relations in business communications and more.

Science Days are already traditional meetings of students, which are held annually at the Department of Documentation Science and Information Activity. During the discussion of important issues, attention was paid, first of all, to the prospects of development of the specialty 029 “Information, Library and Archival Affairs” (educational program “Documentation Science and Information Activity”). Today, it is an indisputable fact that in the conditions of competition in the modern labor market, employers seek to obtain highly qualified specialists who are able to provide documentation and non-documentation processes. That is why improving the quality of the educational process is an urgent requirement of today.

Following the discussion of scientific and educational problems of the seminar, the participants came to the conclusion that the educational space should involve modern technologies for training future professionals in the field of information and documentation, among which an important place belongs to trainings, business games, discussions, etc. All these forms of activating the cognitive activity of higher education students should form the readiness of future professionals for professional activities, development of skills and abilities of oral and written communication with domestic and foreign business partners, increase literacy and more. Emphasis is placed on the rapid changes in the field of information and documentation, caused by the development of new computer technologies, which requires constant updating of knowledge and skills. First of all, a specialist in the field of information and documentation science must quickly adapt to these changes, as well as be able to apply the knowledge acquired in the free economic zone in practice. The application of the results of analytical activities in the field of management documentation is facilitated by the development of critical and logical thinking of future professionals, as well as creativity, which is manifested in the ability to generate new ideas.
