The 99th anniversary of the Faculty of Natural Sciences

On the last Thursday of March, the Faculty of Natural Sciences traditionally celebrates its anniversary! This year we celebrate the 99th anniversary of its founding!

Our Faculty is an integral part of the university and all the major stages of formation and development of the University have become milestones in the history of our Faculty.

The Faculty begins its history in 1923, when the Institute began training specialists in natural sciences. During the next 20 years, specialties in the field of natural sciences were formed: the Department of Chemistry and Agrobiology, the Department of Biology and the Faculty of Geography were opened.

From 1941 to 1943, the Faculty survived two evacuations, and in the fall of 1943, after its return, a new stage of its restoration and development began.

In 1951, on the basis of two faculties – Geography and Natural Sciences and Chemistry – the Faculty of Natural Geography was established, which in 2009 was renamed the Faculty of Natural Sciences due to the opening of new specialties and a corresponding change in structure.

In 2014, the Faculty was evacuated as part of the University to Starobilsk, where work was resumed to train future professionals in all fields of their specialties. During the years of evacuation, the Faculty was able not only to resume its work, but also to continue its development – strengthening its position and becoming one of the leading departments of our university.

Today, our Faculty is one of the largest structural subdivisions of the university, which every year opens its doors to new students who want to master the natural (091 Biology; 101 Ecology; 102 Chemistry; 103 Earth Sciences), agricultural (201 Agronomy; 205 Forest economy; 206 Horticulture), teachers (014.05 Secondary education. Biology and Human Health; 014.06 Secondary Education. Geography; 014.07 Secondary Education. Chemistry) and medical specialties (224 Technologies of Medical Diagnostics and Treatment).

And today, in these difficult times for our country we believe and know that we can agree to overcome all difficulties, become even more hardened and stronger and celebrate with honor the 100th Anniversary of the Faculty!
