The magic power of music

On the eve of the Easter holidays, the Poltava Academic Symphony Orchestra with the participation of teachers and students of our university organized a concert for IDPs.

A charity symphony concert for migrants and locals took place on April 20, 2022 at 15:00 in the big assembly hall of Poltava University of Trade and Economics. One third of the musicians are the scientific and pedagogical staff and students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, led by Yurii Kyrychenko, People’s Artist of Ukraine, lecturer at the Institute of Culture and Arts, winner of the Golden Autumn Chamber Competition. He constantly collaborates with the music capitals of the world as an accompanist.

Under the violin solo with the orchestra, he played music for the film “Ladies in Lavender” (2004), which is known for its performance by American violinist Joshua Bell. The orchestra was conducted by Elizar Pashchenko, a graduate of the Donetsk State Music Academy named after S.S. Prokofiev, Kharkiv National University of Arts. I.P. Kotliarevskyi, clarinet teacher at Poltava College of Arts named after M.V. Lysenko.

The Rector of our University Olena Karaman attended the event together with her colleagues. The concert began with the famous slogan of all Ukrainians: “Good afternoon, we are from Ukraine!”. Melodies of world classics were played on the stage, which helped to distract and calm the souls of all those present, who, unfortunately, learned the horrors of Russia’s war against Ukraine. The Rector of Poltava University Oleksii Nestulia made a closing speech, thanking the orchestra for the incredible and unforgettable feelings that heal the soul and bring us closer to Victory. At the end of the performance, the National Anthem of Ukraine was played, followed by the audience chanting “Bravo!”, “Well done!”, “Thank you!” musicians were not released for a long time and were greeted with loud applause.
