Self-education of teachers of the Ukrainian Language Department

Teachers of the Ukrainian Language Department continue to improve their skills through self-education.

On April 14, 2022, as part of the Science Days at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, teachers of the Ukrainian Language Department took part in a regular webinar from Clarivate.

The webinar on “Researcher’s Author Profiles” was conducted by Clarivate representative Iryna Tykhonkova.

During the webinar, teachers had the opportunity to learn about the difficulties that arise when searching for works by a particular author.

One of the tasks of scientific and pedagogical workers of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University is to prepare reports on the publishing activities of scientists, and thus the university.

The lecturer acquainted the participants with the information on which indicators are used to evaluate the author’s scientific achievements, in particular in the Web of Science Core Collection: number of articles, citations, H-index, beamplot.

During the webinar, the functions and capabilities of author identifiers were compared; algorithms for creating, filling and applying Publons | ResearcherID, ORCID, ResearchGate, Google Scholar are shown.

At the end of the webinar, the lecturer Iryna Tykhonkova traditionally answered the questions from the registration questionnaires and noted: “The use of author profiles simplifies the mechanism of reconciling information about the author. Editions of scientific publications can identify all publications of the author. And the university has the opportunity to track information about its employees and their scientific and publishing activities, to generate reports on scientific activities.”

According to the results of the webinar, the participants traditionally received certificates and information materials for further processing and use in the work.
