Events dedicated to the Unity Day at the ER ICA

A number of events dedicated to the Unity Day were held at the Educational and Research Institute of Culture and Arts.

By decree of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, in order to strengthen the consolidation of Ukrainian society, strengthen its resilience in the face of growing hybrid threats, information, propaganda, moral and psychological pressure on public consciousness, February 16 was declared the Unity Day.

A number of events were held at the Educational and Research Institute of Culture and Arts. On February 16, a video with the anthem and the raising of the flag of Ukraine was posted on the pages of the institute on social networks, and students took part in the all-Ukrainian flash mob #UAtogether.

On February 17, Alena Tereshchenko, Deputy Director for Social and Humanitarian Affairs, held a meeting of advisors to discuss the importance of the moral and psychological well-being of scientific and pedagogical workers and applicants for education. She talked about advice from an Israeli psychologist on how to act in crisis situations. These and other tips can be viewed in the recording of the roundtable, “Hygiene and Prevention of Mental Health Disorders in Military Information Operations” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIxH4tfYa7g&t=2920s.

As part of the subject “Media Literacy”, which has been taught at the institute for several years, teacher Olena Burim discussed with students the impact of the information war on society, current examples of fakes and ways to recognize them were analyzed. In general, the ability to recognize fakes is one of the main skills acquired by applicants for education in this subject. Also, students passed the media literacy test, which can be passed by anyone by the link: https://filter.mkip.gov.ua/test/.

On February 18, barely-watchers held information hours in groups of students on the following topics: the introduction of Unity Day, how to cope with emotional stress and anxiety during the information war, how to behave in crisis situations such as shelling, what to do with suspicious objects, etc. After all, the possession of such knowledge reduces anxiety. It is better to know how to act and never apply this knowledge than not to know what to do in crisis situations when they happen.

Unity Day is still a young holiday, already bringing new traditions into the life of Ukrainians. The scientific and pedagogical staff, employees and students of the ER ICA are proud that they are Ukrainians and live in such a wonderful great country that, in spite of everything, is and will be united!
