Countering Disinformation in Hybrid Warfareˮ for the second-year students majoring in “Preschool Education” at the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology.
The Deputy Director of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology for Social and Humanitarian Work delivered a welcoming speech and noted the relevance of the issues of the event. Media education in Ukraine is a part of the educational process aimed at creating a media culture in society, preparing a person for safe and effective interaction with the modern mass media system.
The roundtable participants discussed the important issues of media literacy and their practical implications for future educators in countering disinformation in the context of hybrid warfare and the Covid-19 pandemic. As part of the round table, students passed online testing, with the help of which they learned the level of their own media literacy and determined which category of media users they belong to. Also, the participants of the event discussed different types of manipulation in the media and ways to recognize them.
Students of ER IPP actively participated in the discussion about media literacy and the responsibility of the media for presenting false information, expressed opinions about the impact on the formation of a media-educated consumer of information; discussed whether media education is necessary and how to distinguish propaganda from facts, truthful information from fake.
