Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University has joined the Unity Marathon.

Unity Day is a symbolic and important holiday for every Ukrainian, because the success of building a democratic and strong state is based on joint efforts to respect the principles of independence, awareness of one’s own responsibility for the future of the entire Ukrainian people. “We are different! Different ages, sexes, cities, regions, professions, talents, different knowledge, languages, religions, but the only desire that unites us is the desire to live, to live in peace, to live happily, as one family, with children, with parentsˮ, the President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said.

In order to strengthen the consolidation of Ukrainian society, strengthen its resilience in the face of growing hybrid threats and pressure on public consciousness, in accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated February 14, 2022 No. 53/20221, the collective of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National  University joined the Unity Marathon.

At 10:00 a.m., our staff and students with blue and yellow ribbons gathered at the university in compliance with all quarantine requirements. The anthem of Ukraine was solemnly sounded and the national flag was raised.

The University Rector Olena Karaman said: “We proved our position during the 100th anniversary of the existence of the university. We have always been, are and remain an outpost of Ukrainians in the east of Ukraine, the most active fighter for its independence, freedom and high universal values. Today, together with all of Ukraine, we express our firm position as a champion of the Ukrainian state and an unbending patriotic unit of Ukrainianism and European culture. Let us all be united together with our work, thoughts, and firm position to show the whole world an example of courage and invincibility!ˮ

Ukraine is our home, which we can only protect by uniting. Today, the university staff, together with the entire state, have spiritually reunited for the sake of the prosperity of a single independent democratic powerful country, a reliable guarantee of the well-being and happy life of its people. And while we are together, we are strong and only together we can overcome any danger. Ukraine is united!
