Meeting with Yaroslav Hrytsak
15.2.2022
A meeting with a leading historian was held at the Ukrainian History Department.
One of the educational traditions of the Ukrainian History Department of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University is the organization of educational and scientific events for students, which include the invitation of leading scientists and public and political figures of Ukraine to the role of speakers.
On February 14, 2022, the leading Ukrainian historian, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of the Ukrainian Catholic University, writer and publicist Yaroslav Hrytsak became a guest of the Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences. He presented a new book “Overcoming the Past: A Global History of Ukraine”, which became a bestseller immediately after its publication.
On the part of the University, the first-fourth year students as well as teachers of the Department of Ukrainian History, took an active part in the event. Yaroslav Hrytsak noted the relevance of the development of scientific and educational relations between scientists from the east and west of Ukraine, expressed the hope that such meetings would become regular and take place offline. In turn, the head of the Ukrainian History Department Oleksandr Naboka invited his counterpart to visit Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. The participants of the dialogue managed to create a fruitful, but friendly and relaxed atmosphere of communication. Interesting and important pages of national history, displayed on the pages of the presented publication, were discussed.
The Ukrainian History Department expresses its sincere satisfaction with the fact that the ER IHIRSPS has received a new important “friend” and like-minded person in the process of development of Ukrainian historical education in the Luhansk region.
