7.2.2022
Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University in 2021 entered the well-known international and domestic rankings of higher education institutions.
In the “Top-200 Ukraine 2021” ranking, our university in 2021 took the 63rd position among 200 universities in Ukraine.
The ranking is developed by the Center for International Projects “EuroEducation” together with the international group of experts IREG Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence. The Top 200 Ukraine 2021 ranking gives priority to European integration processes, in particular, the experts set the weighting coefficients of international indicators of university performance (results in world rankings, participation of universities in the European Union’s Erasmus + programs, etc.) higher than the weighting coefficients of national indicators. In total, ten university performance indicators were taken into account. Among them, academic, scientific publishing and international activities, evaluation of research achievements by comparing university websites, citation of scientific works of university scientists in high-ranking scientific publications, quality of presentation and popularity of the institution in the Internet space have the highest weighting factors.
According to the independent ranking of universities according to the indicators of the international scientometric database SciVerse Scopus in 2021, our university took the 93rd place among 190 universities in Ukraine.
The ranking was developed by the educational information resource “Osvita.ua”. The ranking results are calculated according to the citation rates of scientific articles published by educational institutions or their specialists. In the ranking table, Ukrainian universities are ranked by the Hirsch index, a quantitative indicator based on the number of scientific publications and the number of their citations.
According to the ranking of higher education institutions in terms of the average external testing score of applicants who are enrolled in universities in 2021 to study at the expense of individuals and legal entities (contract), Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University took the 201st place in Ukraine.
This ranking was compiled by the information system “Enter.OSVITA.UA”. The average score of certificates of external independent assessment is calculated among all persons who are enrolled in training at the expense of individuals and legal entities (contract) for the first year to obtain a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree in medical, pharmaceutical or veterinary direction) based on complete general secondary education in full-time and part-time forms of education.
In the consolidated ranking of universities in Ukraine in 2021, our university took the 113th place among 242 universities in Ukraine.
The ranking was developed by the educational information resource “Osvita.ua”. As initial data for compiling the consolidated ranking of higher education institutions of Ukraine, the most authoritative national rankings of educational institutions of Ukraine among experts and the media were used: “Top-200 Ukraine”, “Scopus” and “Point of the EIE for the contract”, each of which uses different criteria for evaluating institutions of higher education and sums up the ranking places.
It should be noted that in the consolidated ranking of higher education institutions in the Luhansk region, our university took the 3rd place in 2021.
In the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities in 2021, our university took the 44th place among 313 universities in Ukraine and the 5045th among more than 31 thousand HEIs in the world.
The Webometrics initiative was founded by the Cybermetrics Lab research group, which belongs to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas (CSIC), the largest research institution in Spain. The ranking is based on an analysis of the official websites of educational institutions, therefore only universities are included in the ranking, which have their own independent web domain.The ranking of higher education institutions is updated regularly, taking into account indicators that show, in particular, the work of teachers, results of their scientific research reflected in Google Scholar Citations, the international recognition of the educational institution and its public relations.
In the 2021 Ukrainian University Ranking, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University took the 75th position among 185 universities in Ukraine.
UniRank, formerly known as “4 International Colleges & Universities” (4ICU), tries to answer the question of which universities are the most popular in Ukraine. Evaluation experts published a ranking of 185 Ukrainian universities that meet the following selection criteria:
- a licensed or accredited HEI by the relevant Ukrainian higher education institution;
- offering at least four-year bachelor’s or master’s or PhD degrees;
- conducting courses mainly in the traditional, full-time, non-distance education format.
The rankings are based on actual influential web metrics provided by independent web analytics sources, not provided by the universities themselves.
Analyzing the positions of higher education institutions of the Luhansk region in the above national and international rankings, it should be noted that Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University occupies leading positions in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, 2021 Ukrainian University Ranking, Top 200 Ukraine 2021 and Consolidated Ranking of Ukrainian universities in 2021.
At the same time, according to the Scopus database ranking and the ranking in terms of the average of the External Testing score of applicants (contract), our university today does not occupy a leading position, which means that the team needs to actively work to improve the indicators that determine positions in these rankings.
