Master’s theses defense at the Psychology Department

The state final certification was held at the Psychology Department.

The state final certification of full-time and part-time applicants for the second (master’s) level of higher education in the specialty 053 “Psychology” was held at the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. The examination committee this year was headed by Tetiana Aslanian, Ph.D. in Psychology, Associate Professor of the Department of Applied Psychology of the friendly State Higher Educational Institution “Donbas State Pedagogical University”.

This year, for the first time, the state final certification was held in two stages – passing a comprehensive final exam in the specialty and defending qualifying works. Such changes are due to the emergence of the Standard of Higher Education of Ukraine of the second (master’s) level, field of knowledge 05 Social and behavioral sciences, specialty 053 “Psychology”. The state final certification was held in a mixed form.

The qualification papers submitted for defense are fully consistent with papers of this level, and the selected topics of the papers indicate the awareness of applicants for higher education in topical problems of theoretical and applied psychology and reflect the needs of the region.

Among the qualification papers submitted for defense were the following:

• Oksana Palaguta “Life Meanings and Features of Self-Consciousness of Boys and Girls Prone to Computer Addiction”, scientific adviser – Tetiana Pashko, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Psychology of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of LTSNU;
• Anastasia Piltenko “Manifestations of Perfectionism in the Perception of Body Image and Interpersonal Relationships of Adolescent Girls”, scientific adviser – Tetiana Pashko, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Psychology Department of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of LTSNU;
• Maryna Bairachna “Individual-Psychological Factors of a Woman’s Readiness for Motherhood”, scientific adviser – Olesia Tovstukha, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Psychology Department of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of LTSNU;
• Yelyzaveta Roslyk “Psychological Characteristics of the Personality of Law Enforcement Officers with Burnout Syndrome”, scientific adviser – Natalia Repkina, PhD in Psychology, Associate Professor of the Psychology Department of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of LTSNU.

Among the current applicants for the second (master’s) level of higher education were employees of the CI “Starobilsk IRC”, military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, professional journalists who consider psychological education to be one of the basic aspects of their work.

The defense of qualification papers took place in an atmosphere of open scientific discussion, in which higher education applicants, members of the examination committee and all those present were able to discuss complex and topical scientific issues. The higher education applicants  showed a high level of formation of general and professional competencies.
