LNU Opens the Door for Youth

On December 12 the university conducted Open Day with the participation of future students from our region.

School leavers learned about the university and specialties, specifics of education, main aspects of student life and employment possibilities. The applicants were told about all training directions and education specifics for each specialty. But these are future applicants who can describe impressions after Open Day best of all.

• What are you interested in at our university? What are your criteria to choose the university?

Andrii (the City of Sievierodonetsk, Sievierodonetsk Chemical and Mechanical Technical School, the forth year, motor mechanic): I like history since the school years. After the university had moved to Starobilsk, it has become the nearest university where I can obtain a profession I wish. One more important reason for this university is its close location to my home.

• Where have you learned that LNU provided profession you were interested in?

Andrii (the City of Sievierodonetsk, Sievierodonetsk Chemical and Mechanical Technical School, the forth year, motor mechanic): My relatives have told me. They have graduated from this university and now they are successful teachers – my grandmother is school director. So, I have considered their example when choosing the university.

• Why have you changed a specialty? Motor mechanic and history are widely different.

Andrii (the City of Sievierodonetsk, Sievierodonetsk Chemical and Mechanical Technical School, the forth year, motor mechanic): This is my dream and my goal I’m moving to.

• Andrii, aren’t you scared that we are evacuated to Starobilsk now? Sievierodonetsk is administrative center now with promising prospect for development?

This is not a priority for me because I have other goals. Providing respectable life and finding good work is the most important now. I am sure that LNU will provide all possibilities for me.

• Why have you chosen LNU to obtain higher education?

Oleksandra Yakunina, Karyna Khrystosenko (Petrivka School No. 1): Career-guiding team has visited our school and recommended this university. We have deferred to this advice and decided to attend Open Day. LNU is not far from our village. Other universities are distant and not everybody is ready to go. We think that Luhansk National University opens up opportunities for successful future and good employment.

These answers prove that even under the conditions of forced evacuation Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University is authoritative and popular higher educational establishment and its new location opens more possibilities for local citizens and the region at large.
