Meeting of the Legal Club

On the eve of the International Human Rights Day LNU Legal Club conducted its meeting, the first one for this year.
Our university tries to restore the traditions it had before the forced evacuation. Students and lecturers of the Department of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences renewed the tradition of holding the meeting of its legal club. This year the first meeting was dedicated to the Ukrainian Legal Week and was conducted on the eve of the International Human Rights Day. That is why one of the main issues discussed at the meeting was a problem of human rights observance in our country and over the world. The participants were showed a video covered the main stages of human rights formation in Europe and over the world.
Talking about human rights usually means a small number of rights and freedoms. But human’s life and development in society is impossible without them.
“Everyone has to know own rights and freedoms and control their respecting by public authorities. To be a public monitor in Luhansk region, one should to succeed in the competition that does not require the compulsory legal education. After that you can visit any state institution to control how they respect human rights”, – noted the Regional Communications Coordinator of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights in Luhansk region, Head of the Department of Political Science and Legal Studies Valerii Ivanovych Arkhipov.
Also Valerii Ivanovych told about general human rights, the activity of regional representative of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, about structure and features of communication with government officials.
Club participants are the students of the Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences, the Institute of Economy and Business and university lecturers. Also the event was participated in by the representatives of Starobilsk local center for providing free secondary legal aid – Anatolii Ivanovych Lytvyn and Volodymyr Oleksiiovych Matsai.
“Free secondary legal aid – is a social program of Ukrainian government that guarantees the effective protection of human right at court at the expense of national budget of Ukraine”, – explained Anatolii Ivanovych Lytvyn.
Club guests told that the main task of local center was the providing equal access to justice by organizing free secondary legal aid including the following service: legal defense, representation of the persons who have a right to free secondary legal aid at court, local government offices and setting procedural papers.
