Under Exchange of Experience

Delegation of Luhansk region visited Zaporizhzhya National University within the experience exchange program for implementing Community Based Approach to Local Development Project.

The visit was on December 3 – 5. Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University was represented by the Head of Center for International and Educative Work I. V. Myhovych. LNU started its official participation in the joint project of European Union and Development Program of United Nations Organization in 2015 when it signed an agreement on cooperation. Visit to Zaporizhzhia was the first step to the implementation of the main agreement items.

Head of Research Resource Center for Sustainable Development of ZNU, Associated Professor of the Department of Sociology Inna Dudareva and Deputy Dean for International Cooperation of FSM, Associated Professor of the Department of Sociology Ihor Kudinov opened the event and welcomed the guests. They described the activity of the Center for Sustainable Development of FSM and the faculty.

The delegation included the Head of the Center for International and Educative Work of LNU Iryna Myhovych, Director of the Institute of Economy and Management of ENU Ruslan Halhash, Pro-Rector for Administrative Work of ENU Andrii Fedorov, ENU lecturer Andrii Zhydkov, Adviser to the Chairman of Luhansk Regional State Administration Oleksandr Strelnyk, Chief Specialist of the Department of Foreign Relations and Report Work of Investment Policy and Foreign Relations Division of the Department of Economic Development, Trade, Foreign Relations and International Economic Activity of Luhansk Regional State Administration Olena Hemusova and the trainee of Luhansk Regional Resource Center of Community Development, coordinator of projects and programs of “Sustainable Development Agency of Luhansk Region” Dmytro Kurochka.

The discussion covered the following issues: the search for donors in order to attract financial support for the mobilization of communities and for the study of local sustainable development; problems of energy conservation; the mobilization and organization of communities on the example of the village of Oktiabrske, Zaporizhzhia region and so on.

Pro-Rector for Administrative Work of ZNU Serhii Kushnir shared his experience in sustainable development projects and energy performance technologies. He told about new hi-tech automation heat supply system developed by university experts and about economic benefit ZNU has due its implementation.

During the event the representatives of delegation from Luhansk region obtained research literature and developments prepared by the scientists and lecturers of FSM on sustainable development problems. Also they saw Faculty of Sociology and Management, visited Resource Center for Sustainable Development with its material and technical base and attended Museum of University History.

Summarizing the results, all participants noted fundamental understanding of project implementation which had a number of scientific and practical directions such as energy performance program which can be implemented not only at the premises of universities but in different administrative programs of Luhansk Regional State Administration; active research activity in the field of sustainable development problems, practical activity on the base of local communities of Luhansk region, developing projects and study guides to create thematic business games, teaching specialization course “Sustainable Development of Society”, specialist training and so on.

Now administration of SE “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University” jointly with coordinators of Community Based Approach to Local Development Project negotiates about opening Resource Center for Sustainable Development at the premises of LNU where it is possible to conduct education events on social mobilization of communities, to attract social investments for district project coordinators, to conduct educational seminars for project participants. Such Center will be an item to transfer of methodology of sustainable development ideas to the students, lecturers and communities and it will be a place for common work on project in Luhansk region (Starobilsk district).
