Doctoral Dissertation Defense

On the eve of Catholic Christmas, Yaroslava Yurkiv defended her doctoral dissertation at the university.
On December 23, 2021, the Associate Professor of the Social Pedagogy Department Yaroslav Yurkiv was awarded the scientific degree of Doctor of Pedagogy in the specialty 13.00.05 – social pedagogy at the meeting of the Dissertation Council D 29.053.01 for the defense of doctoral (candidate’s) dissertations in pedagogy at the State Institution “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University” (Starobilsk city).
The dissertation work “Theory and Practice of Professional Training of Future Social Educators and Social Workers to Work with Vulnerable Categories of the Population” was carried out at the Social Pedagogy Department under the guidance of Doctor of Pedagogy, Professor, University Rector Olena Karaman.
Famous scientists in the field of social and pedagogical science were invited as official opponents:
- Svitlana Oleksandrivna Omelchenko, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Rector of the Donbas State Pedagogical University (Slaviansk);
- Liudmyla Ivanivna Romanovska, Doctor of Pedagogy, Professor, Professor of the Department of Social Work and Social Pedagogy, Khmelnytskyi National University;
- Hanna Ivanivna Slozanska, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Special and Inclusive Education, Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University.
All members of the Dissertation Council and opponents noted the relevance, scientific novelty and practical significance of the work, the need to implement its results in other institutions of higher education in Ukraine; expressed their wishes to continue this direction of research by publishing educational, methodological and informational materials and distributing them in the system of formal, non-formal education and advanced training of specialists in the social sphere.
It was also focused on the quality of the dissertation work, based on the use of a systematic approach to social and pedagogical research within the framework of the scientific school of Serhii Kharchenko, which has already four generations of scientists and continues to develop, forming a positive image of the university in the educational and scientific space of Ukraine.
After the announcement of the resolution of the Specialized Council, Yaroslava Yurkiv and her scientific consultant were congratulated by colleagues and students of the native Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology.
