International Scientific and Practical Conference

On December 21-22, the II International Scientific and Practical Conference “Scientific Achievements: Projects, Research, Prospects” was held at the Faculty of Natural Sciences. 

Last year, after the relocation of our university to Starobilsk, the faculty managed to resume the work of the traditional multidisciplinary international conference “Scientific Achievements: Projects, Research, Prospects” in natural, medical and agricultural sciences.

The team of our faculty hoped to meet the conference participants – friends, colleagues, partners at our university, at our faculty, but, unfortunately, due to the pandemic in the world and the epidemiological situation in our country, the conference was held online.

The conference was opened by Olena Karaman, Rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, Doctor of Pedagogy, Professor, who congratulated everyone on the beginning of the conference and spoke about the 100-year history of the university, its educational and scientific traditions. Olena Leonidivna also noted the importance of fundamental research in natural and medical sciences.

The historical perspective of the directions of scientific research of the Faculty of Natural Sciences in her report was revealed by Natalya Matsai, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor, who emphasized the pleasure of intergenerational research at the Faculty. Today, the scientific interests of teachers of the Faculty of Natural Sciences cover a large number of active areas of natural, agricultural and medical sciences.

At the plenary session, the co-chairs of the organizing committee Saulius Mitskevičius, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Vytautas the Great University, Kaunas, Lithuania, Doctor of Physical Sciences, Professor; Ion Rosca, Director of the National Botanical Garden (Institute) named after Alexander Ciubotar, Chisinau, Moldova, Doctor of Biological Sciences; Yevhen Proskurnikov, Acting Director of the National Natural Park “Kreminna Forests”, the city of Kreminna, Ukraine; Vadym Moroz, Acting Director of the Luhansk Natural Reserve of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, town Stanytsia Luhanska, Ukraine.

At the end of the plenary session of the conference, the work of the sections began, which lasted two days. At all breakout sessions there was an active discussion of the presented reports.

At the section “Achievements, Problems and Prospects of Research in the Field of Natural Sciences”, reports were presented from various branches of natural science – biology, ecology, geography and geology. All the reports presented were informative, and their discussion was active.

The reports of the section “Agrarian Sciences and Food: Traditions, Problems and Prospects” covered the issues of plant growing, soil science, herbology, forestry and gardening. The participants of the section enthusiastically discussed not only the reports, but also the most pressing production problems of agriculture associated with them.

The breakout session “Education: Questions of Theory and Practice (Natural Sciences)” was divided into two subsections: biology and human health, ecology and chemistry; geography. At the meeting of the subsections, scientific developments of experienced scientists were presented, and then those who are just starting their path in science.

At the section “Medicine in Modern Conditions”, the results of research on the most pressing issues in the areas of medical science were considered.

We are sincerely grateful to our colleagues from the University of Vitovt the Great, Lithuania; University of St. Cloud, Minnesota, the USA; National Botanical Garden (Institute) named after Alexandr Ciubotar, Moldova; Luhansk Natural Reserve of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Ukraine; National Natural Park “Kreminna Forests”, Ukraine, who joined the conference as co-organizers.

Applications for participation in the conference were submitted by more than 120 participants – teachers from Ukrainian universities, academic institutions, employees of government agencies, teachers of foreign higher education institutions from 5 countries of the world.

We wish all the conference participants new scientific achievements and good health.
