Meeting with the consul of Ukraine in the city of Batumi

From December 16 to December 18, the university rector Olena Karaman and the head of the Department of Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Business Svitlana Bezborodykh paid an official visit to Georgia.

The program of the visit provided for two meetings: with the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in the city of Batumi Rostom Nakashidze and the leadership of the Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University.

Georgia warmly greeted the guests: warm sea, sunny weather, green palm trees, unusual architecture – old and modern.

Honorary Consul of Ukraine in the city of Batumi Rostom Nakashidze is an old friend and graduate of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, who painfully endured its occupation and happily shares all the successes of the past seven years. Therefore, a gift to Rostom from the university turned out to be very valuable – the book “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University: Pages of History (1921-2021)”, signed by one of the authors Vitalii Kurylo.

The meeting with Rostom Nakashidze turned out to be interesting and productive. He outlined the directions of interaction of the consulate with Ukraine, including: political relations between Ukraine and Georgia, the legal framework between Ukraine and Georgia, trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and Georgia, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Ukraine and Georgia, training in Ukraine.

Olena Karaman spoke about the modern mission and development strategy of the university, in particular in the field of international activities; noted the successes and victories of the university in all areas of educational activity, the place of the university in the educational and scientific space of Ukraine and the world; outlined possible areas of interaction between the consulate and the university in the direction of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Ukraine and Georgia.

Svitlana Bezborodykh shared her plans to improve educational programs for training future specialists in the tourism industry through foreign internships, academic mobility, expanding the international context, etc. She showed interest in developing partnerships with Georgia in order to train competitive specialists.

As a result of the meeting, plans were identified for cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the consulate of Ukraine in the city of Batumi and Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. Rostom Nakashidze shared his plans to visit Ukraine and visit, if possible, our university.

The official meeting turned into a friendly dinner at a local restaurant, which warmly greeted the guests with a New Year tree and unique Georgian national dishes.

The next day, Olena Karaman and Svitlana Bezborodykh had a meeting with the leadership of the Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University.
