Virtual class with a native speaker

The strategic direction “Internationalization at home” continues to develop at the Faculty of Foreign Languages.

On Wednesday, December 15, 2021, a regular online meeting with native speakers was held in accordance with the topic “Peculiarities of Сommunication in China.” The meeting was attended by students of 2-4 years whose major is   “Language and Literature (Chinese, English)” and Ms. Li Weihua. Associate Professor of the Department of Oriental Languages ​​Daria Perepadya addressed the audience with an introductory speech, emphasizing that China’s role in the development of the world economy is becoming more important every year, and this, in turn, leads to increased contacts, the need to understand the specifics of national business etiquette. Knowledge of the peculiarities of communication affects the productivity of cooperation with Chinese colleagues, and therefore these skills are very important for future translators. Ms. Li Weihua noted that the Chinese people are sociable and friendly. Speaking about the peculiarities of business communication in China, she drew attention to some actions prohibited during communication. She also spoke about the specifics of outfits and accessories for business meetings, as well as how to give gifts correctly.

Students learned a lot of interesting and new things; everyone had the opportunity to ask questions about situations that cause surprise or even rejection. The communication was held exclusively in Chinese, which contributed to the effective “immersion” of the participants in a foreign language environment.
