Career guidance of the Department of Journalism and Publishing

The Department of Journalism and Publishing held career guidance events in the city of Severodonetsk.

Observing all quarantine requirements, the Department of Journalism and Publishing of the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications actively conducts career guidance activities in order to attract as many school leavers as possible to the State Institution “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University”. So, on December 17, 2021, the Secondary School No. 16 of the city of Severodonetsk was visited.

The meeting was organized by Artem Halych, Doctor of Philology, Professor, Head of the Department of Journalism and Publishing, and Olha Kutsevska, Candidate of Sciences in Social Communications, Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism and Publishing.

During the conversation, future applicants were provided with all the necessary information about the unique, creative specialty 061 “Journalism”. Separately, it was noted the peculiarities of the educational process, the specifics of admission and submission of documents in 2022, it was emphasized that from 2022 educational services in the specialty will be provided in the city of Rubizhne.

University staff told the students about the main advantages of our higher education, namely: the availability of fixed budget places; the lowest price for contractors in comparison with other universities; opportunities to complete and interesting practice; focused on the new powerful material and technical base of the university.

They also talked about the journalist-practice working at the department – Yevhen Solomin, who since 2006 has been the head of the bureau of the NTN TV channel in the Luhansk region and heads various projects of national channels, such as: STB (program “Vikna”), 24 channel (News, Studio 1 + 1ˮ (TSN); about Vladyslav Kruglov, Danylo Chernichenko, Olena Vozna, Ksenia Shtompel, – master’s students of the department who also work on All-Ukrainian and regional TV channels.

They pointed to a significant number of persons with a scientific degree and academic title in a specialty that ensures a high level of the educational process; focused on comfortable living conditions in a dormitory and multimedia classrooms and a modern library.

The idea to advertise the specialty 061 “Journalism” was fully implemented. The pupils saw an advertising video, the script for which filming and editing were created by the students of the Department. Information materials and booklets were provided to the pupils.

The meeting was interesting and informative, the graduates showed interest in learning, asked many questions and enjoyed the communication.

The Department of Journalism and Publishing expresses its sincere gratitude to the director of the school No.16 in Severodonetsk and the entire teaching staff for cooperation.
