Meeting with representatives of the Starobilsk Regional State Administration

A meeting with representatives of the Starobilsk Regional State Administration took place at the Institute of Commerce, Serving Technologies and Tourism.

On December 2, 2021, the first deputy chairman of the Starobilsk Regional State Administration Volodymyr Cherevatyi met with the deputy director of the Educational and Research Institute of Commerce, Serving Technologies and Tourism Mykhailo Chumak and the head of the Department of Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Business Svitlana Bezborodykh.

This meeting was held in order to determine the priority areas of cooperation between the ER ICSTT of the State Institution “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University” and Starobilsk Regional State Administration in the tourism industry.

In the enlarged Starobilsk district, there are many attractions that are potentially attractive for tourists. The unique objects of the region are the Derkul horse farm, which is the first horse farm on the territory of Ukraine, as well as the Novoaleksandrovsky and Limarivskyi horse farms – architectural monuments of the 18-19 centuries.

“The tourism industry today is one of the most promising sectors of the economy, which can become a stable source of income both for a specific region and for the national economy as a whole,” Volodymyr Cherevatyi noted.

Also, during the meeting, they discussed the available tourist and recreational resources, the prospects for the development of tourism as a component of the economy of the Starobilsk district, possible tourist routes.

“The Department of Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Business has the necessary potential for the effective development of tourism in the region. For several years now, through the efforts of the staff of the department and applicants for education, walking tours of the city of Starobilsk have been conducted, guidebooks, tourist booklets, and gift cards have been published. But the growing demand for tourist services not only in the city, but also throughout the Starobilsk district requires expanding the boundaries of the department’s participation in this important issue and the development of a new tourist product,” Svitlana Bezborodykh said during the meeting.

In turn, addressing those present at the meeting, Mykhailo Chumak emphasized that Starobilsk land has significant potential to offer tourists a wide range of types and opportunities for recreation. The tourism industry in the region requires a detailed study, ordering, identification of priorities and prospects. Under such conditions, tourism in the Starobilsk district has every chance of becoming one of the most significant sources of increasing the local budget, strengthening economic independence, spreading the original culture and history of the region far beyond the district and region.

Summing up, the participants of the event determined the formats for holding upcoming joint events and noted that the combination of theoretical training of the university and the practical experience of state authorities and local governments, the involvement of representatives of civil society institutions will help to reposition the Starobilsk district on the national market of tourist services as a tourist attractive region.
