Academic Council Meeting

A meeting of the Academic Council was held at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
Five main issues were considered on the agenda:
- About the work of university libraries and their material and technical condition.
- About publishing activity and possible ways of financing scientific periodicals of the University.
- About the analysis of the recommendations of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance for the improvement of educational programs.
- Competition issues.
- About conferring academic titles.
After hearing and discussing the report of the Acting Director of the library Maria Pochynkova on the work of university libraries and their material and technical condition, the Academic Council noted that the work of the library during 2016–2019 was mainly aimed at overcoming the negative consequences of displacement, and the last two years can be considered years of stable development. Today the library fund is more than 45 thousand copies. The book fund was replenished through charitable donations from organizations and institutions of various levels, including from the US Embassy in Ukraine, V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the University Oleksii Dniprov. The priority direction of the library’s development over the past two years has been active work in the information space to improve the library’s website and replenish the university’s repository (collections of institutes, faculties and relevant departments have been created, which simplify the search for information, more than 7 thousand documents have been posted).
Among the main achievements is the opening of the “School of Academic Integrity” on the basis of the library, in which more than 250 people have already been trained.
Based on the results of the report of the head of the Department of Algebra and Systems Analysis, editor-in-chief of the scientific journal “Algebra and Discrete Mathematics” Anatolii Zhuchk about publishing and possible ways of financing scientific periodicals of the university, the Academic Council noted that today the university has six professional scientific publications. At the same time, in order to achieve scientific indicators and receive grants, university scientists must increase publication activity in the publications included in the Scopus / Web of Science databases. One of the tasks of the editorial boards is to significantly strengthen the work on the inclusion of scientific university publications in the list of professional publications of the Aˮ and Scopus categories.
After hearing and discussing the report of the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work Dmytro Uzhchenko on the analysis of the recommendations of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance for the improvement of educational programs, the Academic Council noted the need for a detailed analysis and consideration of the recommendations of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, provided during accreditation examinations, which will be the key to the development of educational programs Thus, an analysis of the recommendations provided by expert groups this year, as well as the strongest, according to experts, parties showed that most of these recommendations relate mainly to individual EP and can be guidelines for guarantors of programs that are under development or revision.
When considering personnel issues, candidates for the positions of vice-rectors were agreed: for the position of the Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work – Yaroslava Yurkiv and Anatolii Zhuchok, for the position of the Vice-Rector for Administrative and Economic Work – Oleksii Vysotskyi.
According to the results of a secret ballot on competitive cases, Viacheslav Stepanenko was elected to the post of head of the Department of Chemistry and Technologies of Medical Diagnostics and Treatment, and Tetiana Poluliashchenko was elected to the post of head of the Department of Sport Disciplines.
According to the results of a secret ballot, the Academic Council awarded the following academic titles: Associate Professor of the Department of Information Technologies and Systems – Olha Smahina; Associate Professor of the Department of Public Service and Management of Educational and Social Institutions – Nadiia Vasynova; Associate Professor of the Department of Special and Inclusive Education – Natalia Seromakha and Anastasia Mukhina.
Among miscellaneous, scientific and educational-methodical works were recommended for publication; the topics of dissertations for the scientific degrees of Doctor of Science and Doctor of Philosophy, the temporary procedure for preparing and recommending scientific and educational publications for printing were approved; changes were made to the contract with the scientific and pedagogical worker; changes in the composition of the Academic Council were approved.
