World Powerlifting Championship

Alumni of the Institute of Physical Education and Sports showed successful results at the World Powerlifting Championship.

Alumni of the ER IPES continue to actively perform on the world stage and by their example inspire young athletes to achieve high results.

The International Master of Sports, Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine Mykola Barannik received a bronze medal in the category up to 83 kg at the World Powerlifting Championships in Norway. The athlete in the squat and bench press won small silver awards with the results of 357.5 and 260 kg, respectively, and with the total of 912.5 kg triathlon took the third place on the podium. Athlete’s coaches are Andrii Urban, Viktor Urban.

Danylo Kovalov became the champion in the weight category up to 105 kg. The result of the winner is 1035 kg in the total of triathlon and the gold medal in squatting (405 kg) and silver in the bench press (302.5 kg), after which the athlete was already beyond the reach of his rivals. His coaches are Oleksii Bychkov, Alina Bychkova.

Another hero of the tournament was the experienced Oleksii Bychkov in the weight category up to 120 kg. An interesting fact is that Oleksii is the coach of Kovalov, the winner in the previous weight category!

Bychkov only in the squat did conceded a small medal to his rivals, having conquered 412.5 kg. In the bench press, he began a systematic ascent to the pedestal. 325 kg is in the asset of Oleksii and a small bronze medal. But in his signature exercise – deadlift, the athlete left no doubt about who will be the world champion of 360 kg, 375 kg and 390 kg today. And Oleksii got his sixth world title with a total of 1127.5 kg in triathlon! Champion’s coaches are Alina Bychkova, Viktor Naleikin.
