LNU students joined socio-cultural project of Research Center of Children’s and Youth Literature – “All of Ukraine Reads to Kids”.
The project is aimed to improve society’s understanding the importance of reading for the kids from the early age and to encourage parents and teachers to develop children’s reading and communicative skills; propagation of the early reading idea. The organizers advice reading to children for 20 minutes every day from the birth.
Our university has not missed such important for the Ukrainian society project and supported students in readings for children. On Luhanshchyna it was organized by the Department of Philological Disciplines of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology.
Coordinator of “All of Ukraine Reads to Kids” project is Professor of the Departmetnof Philological Disciplines Vitalina Volodymyrivna Kizilova. She presented the activity of the Department of Philological Disciplines of IPP. Department staff performs active work on promotion of children’s book at the schools of Luhanshchyna, information and educative activity with school teachers and tutors of pre-school educational establishments, conducts regional seminar and Ukrainian conference on the problems of cultural and literature training at schools and kindergartens.
Within the project university lecturers met with parents and children at the charity fund “SOS Children’s Village”. They decided to keep organizing such meetings and chose the subjects.
Today students of pedagogical specialities who will work with children in future have joined the project as well. They arranged readings at the kindergartens of Chmyrivka, Polovinkino, Pidhorovka, Starobilsk (No. 2, 3, 5, 8, 11) and charity fund “SOS Children’s Village”.
School administration warmly welcomed students and children were very happy to see them. They enjoyed listening to the fairy-tales, communicated with students, answered all their questions and asked a lot about fairy-tales and books.
“These were the unforgettable emotions. When you read a fairy-tale, children’s eyes are full of curiosity, they smile and even applause. At this moment your feelings are beyond the words!” – the first-year students of “Elementary Education” Oksana Kulish, Yana Kahala and Maryna Bondareva shared their impressions.
There are meetings with the small pupils of Starobilsk in the plan.
Everyone can join the project. You just need to take a book and to read several pages to your kid, brother, sister or nephews.
If you want to change the world around – start with yourself! This is not just a reading but a good example for the younger generation.
Read! Read! Read! Reading is fashionable!
