IV Congress of the Sociological Association of Ukraine

The ER IHIRSPS took part in the IV Congress of the Sociological Association of Ukraine.

On October 28-29, the IV Congress of the Sociological Association of Ukraine “Transformation of Social Institutions in the Information Society”, which was held online, ended.

The Congress was opened by the President of the Sociological Association of Ukraine, Professor of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Vil Bakirov. The leading Ukrainian and world sociologists, namely the President of the International Sociological Association, Director of the Center for Arab and Middle Eastern Studies at the American University in Beirut, Head of the Department of Islamic Studies, Professor of the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Media Studies Sari Hanafi, Claire Wallace – Head of the Department of Sociology University of Aberdeen, President of the European Sociological Association (2007-2009), Piotr Stompka – Professor at the Institute of Sociology at the Jagiellonian University, Academician of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Europe and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, President of the International Sociological Association (2002-2006). The work of the congress presented the work of more than 32 sections and 5 round tables on various social topics. This year, the teachers of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology of our university have traditionally prepared the section “Sociality and its (self) descriptions in the global crisis of praxis”. Its moderators were:

  • Ilia Kononov – Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Professor;
  • Oleksandr Holikov – Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Associate Professor of V.N.Karazin Kharkiv National University;
  • Svitlana Khobta – candidate of sociological sciences, associate professor.

The work of the section was intense, interesting and lively, the education applicants majoring in “Sociology” were not on the sidelines – they actively participated in the discussions that arose after the reports, asked interesting questions to senior colleagues and, using, were able to see the leading sociologists who are studied under preparation time for classes.

At the same time, the results of numerous studies of Ukrainian sociologists were presented at the Congress, which testifies that Ukrainian sociology lives and develops.
