The senior lecturer of the Department of Gardening and Ecology made an expedition trip to the south of Ukraine.
In October, senior lecturer of the Department of Gardening and Ecology Andrii Tupikov was on an expedition trip to the south of Ukraine.
The aim of the project was to use remote sensing of the earth and modeling, refined by field trips, to assess the quality of the environment and to determine the minimum optimal requirements for the habitat and landscape features for the life and sustainability of populations of the steppe viper.
During the first phase of the project, Andrii Igorovych and other scientists conducted a survey and characterized viable populations and their habitats.
Also during this trip, the scientists visited the famous habitats of the steppe vipers, where they tried to confirm the findings of 100 years ago and checked some simulated areas.
Of course, studying the vipers, scientists had the opportunity to get acquainted with the entire snake fauna of the mainland part of southern Ukraine.
The second stage is planned using mathematical modeling and the search for places suitable for the life of the steppe viper and their examination. Thus, scientists will obtain characteristics for the habitat of the steppe viper. And in the future, these data will be used in classes in zoological disciplines.
