Meeting with a famous journalist

The students and teaching staff of the Department of Journalism and Publishing talked with a famous journalist and TV presenter.

East and West was united by the meeting of teachers and students of the State Institution “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University”, Luhansk University of Internal Affairs named after E.O. Didorenko, Uzhgorod National University with the famous journalist and TV presenter Konstiantyn Hrubych. The event took place on October 25, 2021 on the ZOOM online platform as part of the Youth Scientific and Professional Media Club of the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications.

The task for the students was to preview in advance the reportage “Shadows of Forgotten Brands: Marshmallow” of the Evening Issue “TSN. WEEKˮ on 1 + 1 TV channel dated October 24, 2021 and try to analyze it by preparing questions for discussion.

Certain parallels can be drawn: marshmallows, which almost all viewers wanted to eat after the broadcast, are a vivid example of the correct collection of information and its delivery to recipients through communication channels. Only well-written information will be popular, which means it will be consumed like a real marshmallow.

The event was organized by Olha Kutsevska, Candidate of Sciences in Social Communications, Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism and Publishing, who introduced the distinguished guest.

In the first part of the creative meeting, Mr. Konstiantyn spoke about the dedication to the profession of a journalist, about the high responsibility to the audience, about the need to observe journalistic ethics and noted the urgently needed specialty “Journalism”, especially in modern conditions, where disinformation reigns.

In the second part, the speaker willingly answered the questions asked by the participants from three higher educational institutions of Ukraine. They concerned the specifics and production of weekly analytical TV programs; journalistic investigations; behind-the-scenes TV, etc.

The meeting was very interesting and productive. The participants of the event received practical skills in filming reports and enjoyed communicating with a specialist journalist Konstiantyn Hrubych.
