Meeting with veterans of the ATO “Living History”
9.10.2021
On October 6, an online meeting with veterans of the ATO “Living History” took place in the university library.
This event is dedicated to the memory of the Ukrainian defenders who died in the struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The meeting was attended, on the one hand, by ATO veterans, who today remain active servicemen, on the other, by college students of the State Institution “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University”, as well as representatives of the Educational and Research Institute of Economics and Business, the Faculty of Natural Sciences.
The purpose of the event was worthy of respect for the heroism and self-sacrifice of the soldiers who fell for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, the formation of an active civil position of students.
The meeting was opened by the acting rector Oleksandr Babichev, who noted the importance of the heroism of the ATO heroes for the independence of Ukraine in 2014-2021, the importance of remembering those who fell for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. He did not ignore the fact that a significant number of military personnel who were and are participants in the ATO / JFO study at our university.
At the beginning of the conversation, the participants paid tribute to the memory of the victims to the hymn of the Heavenly Hundreds Heroes.
Further, the meeting was continued in the form of a casual conversation with the veterans, which created a warm atmosphere of trust. Such a dialogue made it possible to humanize history, to make it alive. With a pain in their hearts, the participants recalled the painful moments of the hot times of 2014-2015, the loss of close friends and colleagues turned out to be especially terrible for them. The participants mentioned that the most important and most essential for them is the support of the family, which allowed them to withstand all the hardships during the hostilities.
It is clear that it is impossible to reach all university students during one such meeting, and a large mass event would not allow maintaining an atmosphere of trust and tranquility. Therefore, we will hold several such meetings with ATO veterans and representatives of other structural subdivisions of our university in the near future.
We wish the veterans-participants and all military personnel good health and may your guardian angel always guard you!
We are looking forward to new meetings!
