Opening of the Youth Scientific and Professional Media Club at the FUPSC

The opening of the Youth Scientific and Professional Media Club took place at the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications.

On September 28, at the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications, the opening and the first meeting of the multidisciplinary Scientific and Professional Media Club, which is a voluntary public association of higher education applicants and scientific and pedagogical workers of the faculty, took place. The Media Club was created on the initiative of teachers and students of the Department of Journalism and Publishing within the framework of non-formal education on the principles of voluntariness and community of interests. 

The main tasks of the Media Club are:

  • organization of a multidisciplinary scientific and professional platform for the formation of practical skills in the media sphere;
  • development of communication competencies for the collection, processing, interpretation and dissemination of mass information;
  • creating conditions for further employment;
  • development of social activity, corporate unity among higher education applicants, etc.

The meeting of the Media Club took place in two stages: organizational and practical. During the first, the chairman of the Media Club was elected, who became the higher education applicant  of the first (bachelor’s) level majoring in 061 “Journalism” Oleksandr Cherepenia and the deputy – a third-year student majoring in 061 “Journalism” Yulia Mezhenska. Olena Kasianenko, an applicant of the first (bachelor’s) level majoring in 061 “Journalism”, became a representative of the Media Club’s press service. For the convenience of communication, members of the scientific and professional public association elected academic group advisors from students, who were entrusted with organizational responsibilities in holding events.

These advisors are:

  • Sofia Makarenko, 1st year student majoring in “Journalism”;
  • Yulia Budantseva, 2nd year student majoring in “Secondary Education. Ukrainian Language and Literatureˮ;
  • Snizhana Kliuchko, 2nd year student majoring in “Journalism”;
  • Yulia Mezhenska, 3rd year student majoring in “Journalism”;
  • Krystyna Tkachenko, 3rd year student majoring in “Secondary Education. Ukrainian Language and Literature. Language and Literature (English)”.

The second part of the meeting was of a practice-oriented nature, which consisted in obtaining professional advice from an experienced video blogger, active public figure, leading independent transnational multimedia corporation Toronto Television, founder of the dostuno.ua project. Dmytro Schebetiuk. He spoke about his experience in the media sphere as a blogger, presenter, public figure, gave practical advice to the club members.

Taking into account the epidemiological situation and quarantine, the next meeting of the Media Club will be held on the Zoom platform in the form of a training with a representative of a public organization, editor-in-chief of the Internet publications “Media Detector” Otar Dovzhenko.
