Happy 100th anniversary!

The university team solemnly celebrated the centenary of the founding of the university.

On March 1, 2021, Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University celebrated its 100th anniversary. However, due to the difficult epidemiological situation, all festive events had to be postponed indefinitely.

Today, September 24, 2021, a large-scale celebration thundered! Finally, the long-awaited day has come in the life of each of the large university family – the 100th anniversary of the University’s founding day has been grandly celebrated. This is a significant event that has united all generations of our students for a common goal – the glorification and exaltation of the native higher educational institution.

The culmination of long preparation and excitement was an exhibition of the achievements of each university structural subdivision and a huge festive concert. All events took place in the Palace of Culture in Rubizhne city in compliance with anti-epidemiological requirements. The festive mood of all those present reached the highest heights, because this is the first large-scale meeting of the university staff and students during a difficult quarantine situation.

The opening of the festive program was a university-wide exhibition, where all institutes, faculties and colleges presented their scientific achievements, creative works, design developments, etc.

Students demonstrated the results of their activities. Thus, at the ER IPES, demonstration performances of students specializing single combat and masters of sports in artistic gymnastics took place. Students of the Institute of Culture and Arts charged colleagues with energetic dances and live music; the decoration of the event was the models of a separate structural subdivision “Brianka Professional College of the State Institution “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University”. 

A great joy for the team was the cohort of high-ranking guests who came to the holiday today, namely, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Oleksii Dniprov, President of the Confederation of Employers of Ukraine Oleh Shevchuk, Chairman of the Supervisory Council of the Closed Nondiversified Venture Corporate Investment Fund “Kailas” Serhii Lysanets , President of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine Vasyl Kremen, First Vice-President of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine Volodymyr Luhovyi, Academician of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine Svitlana Sysoieva, Director of the Central Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education Tamara Sorochan, Advisor to the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Vadym Daniielian, Chairman of the Luhansk Regional State Administration Serhii Haidai, Head of the Department of Education and Science of the Luhansk Regional State Administration Yurii Stetsiuk, mayor of Rubizhne city Serhii Khortiv, ​​and honorary servicemen.

The festivities continued with a large-scale festive concert, which emotionally combined joy and sadness, recalling all the pages of the university history. For 100 years of the existence of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, teachers have repeatedly fought for its existence, confidently striding to the heights. Proof of this is a number of awarded teachers of our university, congratulations from the President of Ukraine and the Cabinet of Ministers, a letter of gratitude from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and a huge number of certificates of honor to the university staff.

An exciting moment of the celebration was the speech of the acting rector Vitalii Kurylo: “Scientists, people’s deputies, ministers and their deputies, rectors of other universities. 12 Olympic champions and 30 Olympic medalists. And just tens of thousands of excellent teachers and workers in other fields. And all this is Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University! I thank all the guests, friends of the university, representatives of state authorities and local governments, members of the Supervisory Council. You have always been and are next to us and we are doing joint work for the benefit of our Ukraine, for the benefit of our Luhansk region. I know that we will return to our buildings in Luhansk, Kadiivka, Brianka, Rovenki, Alushta!”.

The names of people who were awarded the honorary titles, Honorary Professor of LTSNU, Honorary Doctor of LTSNU, The Best Student of LTSNU, Honorary Worker of LTSNU and awarded with jubilee and honorary certificates of the university. Acting Rector, Chairman of the Academic Council Vitalii Kurylo proudly presented the awards, thanks to them for their conscientious work for the benefit of the university.

On this day, congratulations and wishes of strength and inspiration for new achievements – love for our people, their homeland – Ukraine, native land – Luhansk region sounded from the stage. The songs performed by the vocalists gave a lot of pleasure, unforgettable impressions and vivid memories. The staging and execution of choreographic performances amazed everyone with their skill.

Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University is the flagship of education and science of Ukraine, which boldly embarks on a 200-year path of development and prosperity. We are confident that the Shevchenko’s spirit will always accompany the team to new research, sports and creative achievements.
