Excursion for first-year students

A part of the educational process of the students of the ER IHIRSPS is to conduct “field” excursions to the iconic historical places of our region.

For the second year in a row, first-year students participate in the study of the archaeological past of the Starobilsk district through direct acquaintance with the ancient monuments of the region, which have been studied by leading scientists for many years. This time they had the opportunity to learn about the burial mounds, which appeared during the domination of nomadic tribes in our region during the Bronze Age, and located near the modern village of Pidgorivka.

These ancient monuments are intermediate points of the educational and excursion route, developed a year ago by Doctor of Historical Sciences, Head of the Department of History of Ukraine Oleksandr Naboka, together with a researcher at the Institute of Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Candidate of Historical Sciences Serhii Telizhenko.

Students had the opportunity to learn about the peculiarities of people’s life in our region in the “Bronze” era, to understand the historical significance of the settlement of the Luhansk region in that ancient era.

The excursion ended at one of the iconic landmarks of Starobilsk – the cross, installed on the top of a chalk mountain, which rises near the Aidar River. This is one of the most beautiful places in our region.
