Glory to the Heroes!

Students and staff of LTSNU honored the memory of the servicemen and members of volunteer formations who died in the struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

By the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 621/2019 dated 23.08.2019, on August 29, the whole country celebrates the Day of Remembrance of the defenders of Ukraine who died in the struggle for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Seven years ago, a terrible tragedy for our people happened – heroically breaking free from the deadly trap, which was supposed to be a “green corridor”, 366 Ukrainian military and law enforcement officers were killed near Ilovaisk. They gave away the most valuable that a person has for the sake of peace and a peaceful life in their native land.
On this mourning day, the Administration, the Trade Union Organization and Student Government honored the memory of the victims with a minute of silence and laid fresh flowers at the foot of the monument. They are a symbol of the immortality and eternal glory of the heroes in the memory of the university staff.

It is the duty of each of us to remember everyone who was forever torn from the embrace of their relatives by hostile shelling. We deeply sympathize with the parents, wives, children and families of all the victims.
