Training for schoolchildren

Employees of the Marketing Department of LTSNU Iryna Bakhmet and Halyna Bohucharska held a training for schoolchildren of Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

On August 10-11, 2021, within the initiative “Safe Schools: Youth in Action”, which is carried out in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Danish Red Cross and the Danish Youth Red Cross, a national presentation of projects developed by school teams from Luhansk and Donetsk regions took place. The event was organized by the specialists of the project “Access to Education” of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Ukraine Yulia Spytska and Petro Riabukhin and coordinator of the project “Safe Schools: Youth in Action” Yulia Olefirenko.

School teams from the cities of Volnovakha, Zolote, Kurakhovo, Novoaidar, Mariupol, Popasna arrived in Kyiv. Employees of the Marketing Department were also invited to the event to conduct a master class on working with digital platforms and deepening communication skills through social networks for students. As a trainer on the topic “The role of information and media in the modern world. The use of modern media in educational institutions” was made by the Head of the Marketing Department Iryna Bakhmet. She told the audience about the role of media and digital skills today, their varieties and development, methods of disseminating mass information, writing media texts.

While watching the presentation, schoolchildren learned about the history of the development of methods of disseminating mass information, analyzed the writing of a media text, determined the role of a key message or message, and also learned what media our higher education institution  uses to cover the activities of the university and familiarize the population with educational services. The trainer demonstrated coverage of the university’s activities in regional and all-Ukrainian media, the official website of the university, its own Internet TV and radio studio “University Wave”, the official YouTube channel, social networks Facebook, Instagram, Twitter.

Advice to students on building communication in order to increase the number of subscribers also became useful. The main rules were: creating an interesting feed, writing understandable and interesting texts, publishing creative and useful content.

At the end of the master class, those present concluded that media can influence the formation of civic thought and a person’s own position, and digital technologies and skills are increasingly integrated into people’s lives, especially in a pandemic, when society is forced to switch to remote work and study.

Congratulations from the guests of the event, in particular from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the authorized President of Ukraine for volunteer activities, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, school projects successfully presented by students, speeches by TCH facilitators and an excursion to the Museum of Science – only a part a two-day event that was fruitful, creative and friendly. We wish pupils successfully implemented projects and new interesting ideas, and the organizers of the event – professional success and the implementation of all ideas and plans!
