Participation in the curriculum development

University scientists took part in the development of a model curriculum for Ukrainian literature.

In the 2021 – 2022 academic year, the New Ukrainian School will start at the middle level of institutions of general secondary education. The reform brings them to a conceptually new level, which implies the practical implementation of modern social development and the introduction of the State standard for basic general secondary education. For this purpose, an innovative educational project of the all-Ukrainian level “Development and implementation of educational and methodological support for institutions of general secondary education in the context of the implementation of the State standard of basic secondary education” has been introduced. An important task of the implementation of this project is the development of educational and methodological support for the implementation of the State Standard. At the initial stage, model curricula were developed for all disciplines for grades 5-6.

The teachers of our university took part in the work on the program on Ukrainian literature, which received the stamp of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The program on Ukrainian literature for grades 5-6 was prepared by the team of authors of the Institute of Pedagogy of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine in cooperation with scientists and language teachers (program authors: Tamila Yatsenko, Vasyl Pakharenko, Vitalina Kyzylova, Tetiana Kachak, Olesia Slyzhuk, Lilia Ovdiichuk, Svitlana Diachok, Iryna Tryhub, Volodymyr Makarenko).

The compilers of the program have significantly updated the content of the school course of Ukrainian literature, focusing on the reading and cognitive interests of modern pupils. In particular, the program includes works of writers that have not been studied before (based on the results of surveys of pupils, their parents and teachers). Adventure-fantastic works, works of New Year and Christmas themes, works of art of Crimean Tatar literature, works about the life of outstanding children have been proposed, as well as an increase in the number of texts by modern writers, whose literary heroes live in the modern world, face problems that are important for the children of the information society. The program provides for a wide artistic context for the study of literature, the active use of digital learning technologies.

We hope that school teachers will find it interesting to work with this program, to open new pages of Ukrainian literature. The program can be found on the website of the Institute of Education Content Modernization.
