Archaeological expedition to Olvia
23.7.2021
Today, on July 23, students of the Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences went to the National Historical and Archaeological Reserve “Olvia”.
For the fourth time, since 2018, the Luhansk archaeological expedition is sent to the banks of the Dnieper-Bug estuary. This year, the National Historical and Archaeological Reserve “Olvia” welcomes 23 students headed by Evgenia Shevtsova, assistant of the Department of History of Ukraine.
The expedition could not have taken place without the material support of the leadership of the university and the institute, the Primary Trade Union Organization, as well as caring Olvia “veterans” of the past, among whom the archaeological team is always actively supported by Doctor of Economics Vasyl Ivanovych Nadraga.
Students are eagerly awaiting excavations at the T-4 site. This year they will again continue to work on the study of the Olvian theater. This, since 2018, has already become a good tradition of the Luhansk archaeological detachment.
Expeditions to the reserve “Olvia” for students of History Faculty have been continuing with a short break since 1969. And this trip once again confirms that the Olvian tradition at the History Faculty will not be interrupted under any circumstances!
During the year, girls and boys prepared for the 2021 season: they planned events, held Olvian meetings, discussed various ideas, and also invited freshmen and everyone to the trip, so that the ranks of Olvians would replenish. This year, to undergo archaeological practice, first-year historians go to the reserve, as well as those students who go for the second, third and even fourth time by choice.
As always, the members of the expedition will bring with them new archaeological achievements, vivid memories and emotions. And we wish them a successful expedition and interesting finds!
