Art lesson for children

An art lesson for children and a support group for parents of the project “Helping Families Raising Children with Disabilities” took place.

Within the memorandum between the State Institution “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University” and the Charitable Foundation “Mercy-Luhansk”, the project “Helping Families Raising Children with Disabilities” is being implemented with the financial support of Caritas Österreich.

On June 3, employees of the Charitable Foundation “Mercy-Luhansk” and the Social Service Olena Dukhova and Anton Nazmiev held two art therapy lessons for children and a support group for parents.

Young children used colored paper to create the composition “My Sea”, which symbolizes their dreams of rest after long schooling and quarantine.

The next group of older children with the help of projective metaphorical maps underwent the psychological method “My Safe Place”. From the chosen picture, symbolizing their resourceful and comfortable feeling, they painted the free space on the sheet of paper, making it physically larger. This technique is designed to reduce the psychoemotional stress of the child and get the skills to stabilize one’s own emotional state.

The project psychologist, assistant of the Psychology Department, gestalt-oriented therapist Anton Nazmiev worked with the parents, who are a support group for children. The participants exchanged feelings and experiences, psychological state and experience in raising children with disabilities.
