Round table “Cybercrime. Theory and Practice of Preventionˮ

The Institute of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technologies together with the Luhansk Research and Development Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs held a round table on cybercrime and ways to minimize it.
On June 16, 2021, employees of the Educational and Research Institute of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technologies and employees of the Luhansk Scientific Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine discussed cybercrime and ways to prevent it.
The meeting was attended by:
- Maxim Dranev, Deputy Head of the Department of Forensic Research;
- Denys Yeletskykh, forensic expert of the sector of computer and technical research;
- Hennadii Mohylnyi, director of the Educational and Research Institute of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technologies, Candidate of Technical Sciences;
- Mykola Semenov, Head of the Department of Information Technologies and Systems, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences;
- Ihor Kirieiev, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Information Technologies and Systems;
- Volodymyr Matievskyi, Assistant of the Department of Information Technologies and Systems;
- Vitalii Kuznetsov, 3rd year student majoring in 123 “Computer Engineering”.
The Director of the ER IPMIT began the meeting with a welcoming speech, and then Denis YeletskYkh spoke about cybercrime and countermeasures, he especially noted the importance of teaching all segments of the population the basic skills of cyberhygiene and drew attention to the vulnerability of the population aged 45-55.
Then VitalII Kuznetsov made a presentation, spoke about the main types of cyberattacks, his words sparked a discussion about modern cyberattacks and the protection of digital assets NFT, BTC.
After that, Director of the ER IPMIT Hennadii Mohylnyi spoke about the work of ICR, which was created within the framework of the international project “MoPED – Modernization of pedagogical higher education using innovative teaching tools” Erasmus + KA2 CBHE No. 586098-EPP-1-2017-1-UA-EPPKA2 – CBHE-JP, in the face of the COVID-19 epidemic. Particular attention in the report was paid to ensuring the stable and uninterrupted operation of ICR and the protection of all its users from cybercriminals. The set of measures, which was introduced by the staff of the ER IPMIT, will contribute to the sustainable development of the project “MoPED”.
The round table ended with a discussion of the topics of the next meetings, one of the following topics will be “Protection of Digital Assets”.
