Collection of Lesia Ukrainka’s works

The teaching and student community rejoices at the acquisition of the complete academic collection of Lesia Ukrainka’s works in 14 volumes.

It’s nice to receive gifts from friends, rejoicing in their perseverance and, in a good sense, obsession. It is a significant and even historic event for our university library! We have just received the complete unlicensed academic collection of Lesia Ukrainka’s works in 14 volumes, issued on the occasion of her 150th anniversary by the Ukrainian Institute of Books in cooperation with the Lesia Ukrainka Volyn National University with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.

The idea of its creation was conceived by a team of colleagues for a long time, and it was implemented last year, just during the period of tough quarantine. This is the result of the work of famous scientists, textual critics from different cities of Ukraine: Lutsk, Kyiv, Ostrog, Lviv.

This edition is special, the texts retain the original copyright spelling, underlining and strikethrough, which the writer translated from different languages. Fragments and materials seized by censorship in previous editions have been renewed. They are attracted by a variety of textual, historical and literary commentaries. The publication is divided thematically and genre-wise in the following areas-blocks: drama (1-4 volumes), poetry and lyric-epic poems (5 volumes), fiction (6 volumes), literary criticism and journalism (7 volumes), translations (8 volumes ), folklore recordings and songs recorded from the voice of Lesia Ukrainka (volume 9), “Ancient history of the Eastern peoples” and synopses, extracts, notes (volume 10), correspondence (volumes 11-14).

Undoubtedly, our teaching and student community will happily join the secrets and implications of Lesia’s word. Therefore, we read, experience, savor the eternal, imperishable. The writer will live because “in her heart she had something that does not die”. We hope that starting from the new academic year, quarantine restrictions will not prevent us from being inspired by her voice during conversations in the coworking space. The publication is also available in electronic format for revision and download free of charge on the website of the Ukrainian Institute of Books by the link: https://ubi.org.ua/uk/activity/zibrannya-tvoriv-lesi-ukra-nki-u-14-i-tomah .
