Defense of practice
27.5.2021
Students of the Institute of Physics, Mathematics and Information Technologies have completed design and technological practice.
The second-year students majoring in 121 “Software Engineering” defended the results of design and technological practice in the form of teamwork using the Scrum or Kanban methodology.
The staff of the Department of Information Technologies and Systems are constantly working to increase the competitiveness of students, introducing tasks and working conditions into the educational process as close as possible to real production situations. So, this year, the 2nd year students majoring in 121 “Software Engineering” took the design and technological practice in the form of teamwork.
The students were divided into groups, each of which had to complete a team project, while working on one of the project management methodologies. Some of the students chose Kanban, the rest – Scrum.
Recall that Kanban is the concept of maintaining a continuous flow of tasks and their efficient execution, due to the maximum efficiency of the team, and Scrum is a project management approach for agile software development. Scrum clearly places emphasis on quality control of the development process.
The final stage of the practice was the public defense of the results of each team. The jury consisted of the head of the ITS Department Mykola Semyonov, senior lecturer Volodymyr Donchenko, assistant Volodymyr Matievskyi and senior students.
During the defense, the teams simulated the defense of their developments in front of customers, that is, they presented the work of their program. At the same time, each student talked about the functionality for which he was responsible. There was also a discussion of the pros and cons of each methodology.
In the course of analyzing the feedback of students of the department, it was decided to continue to carry out practices in this format. The employees of the ITS Department are confident that the approximation of the training conditions to real production processes will help our graduates find good jobs in the future.
