The Department of Journalism and Publishing has published the eighth issue of the student educational newspaper “Kontakt”.

This issue is dedicated to the 100th anniversary
of the State Institution “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National  University”

During March-April 2021, students majoring in 061 “Journalism”, while undergoing practical training at the Department of Journalism and Publishing, had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the work of a journalism specialist, plan and prepare the content for the publication, distribute responsibilities among themselves, and clearly fulfill the assigned tasks. The educational newspaper “Kontakt” is aimed at the practical application of the skills and abilities acquired during sturies and has become an effective base for creative practices of students.

Through the joint efforts of the editorial board including the editor-in-chief and Head of the Department, Professor Artem Halych, executive editor of the issue, Associate Professor Kateryna Ulianova, technical and art editor Tetiana Kononenko, as well as the group of authors of students and master’s students of the department, we have the eighth issue of the illustrated student publication.

The newspaper opens with a permanent column “Events” dedicated to: commemorating the memory of the genius writer and founder of the new Ukrainian literature Taras Shevchenko; an exhibition of scientific achievements of the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications; attendance of the online training “Self-education is the key to success”, organized by the NGO “Detector-Media”, by the third-year student Oleksandr Cherepenia.

Under the heading “Student Life”, students talked about the peculiarities of distance learning on ZOOM and Microsoft Teams platforms during quarantine. The highlight of this issue is the heading “Profession” is presented by own materials of master’s students-practitioners of the Department of Journalism and Publishing, namely: Olena Vozna, correspondent of “STBˮ -” Steps of social talk show “; Vladyslav Kruglov, military journalist of the TV channel “IСTV” – “Military journalist – fighter for the reliability of information”; Danylo Chernichenko, correspondent of the TV channel “UA: Donbas” – “Television “Kitchen” of the “Public”: the first experience on “UA: Donbas”.

A very interesting interview with Valentyna Halych, Doctor of Philology, Professor, Founder of the Department of Journalism and Publishing of LTSNU, was taken by Kateryna Kotova, 4th year student. It is placed under the heading “Personalities”.

Under the heading “Relevant”, Tetiana Kononenko, 1st year master’s student, analyzed modern educational online resources for future journalists. In the literary section “On the palms of the word” are poems of talented young people. The issue of the student newspaper “Kontakt” ends with the heading “Photo Memories”, which is represented by chronicle photographs of teachers and students of the Department.

Activity is about us! The creators of this publication not only learn, but also teach: share practical experience, working on well-known all-Ukrainian and regional TV channels; attend trainings; interviewing; filming reports; write their own poems. And they also share their impressions of this on the pages of their favorite newspaper “Kontakt”.
