The Faculty of Foreign Languages hosted international scientific and practical conferences “Ukraine – China: Dialogue of Cultures” and “Modern Trends in Oriental Studies”.

The conference was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the State Institution “Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University”. At the plenary session and sessions of the sections there was a discussion of scientific and practical issues of peculiarities and development of the Chinese language; literary aspect of sinology; Chinese civilization; innovative technologies in teaching foreign languages ​​and cultures in Ukraine and the world; political, civic and moral education of youth in China, Japan, Arabic-speaking countries and Ukraine, etc.

Scientists from six countries joined the conference. They were representatives from China, Japan, Poland, Turkey, Qatar and the United States. Of great interest was the report “Learning Chinese in 2021: problems and challenges» made by Dr. Katarzyna Banka-Orlowska from the University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland. The report “The role of language in multicultural education in the context of the internationalization” made by Alexander Lennartz, a researcher from the United States, was very interesting and informative. Students listened with great interest to the reports of Jaylee Wu from China, Takashi Itozawa and Haruna Aoki from Japan, and Irfan Tosunogli from Turkey. Fedicheva N.V. prepared a report “Mission, vision, slogans and values of world universities”, and teachers of the Department of oriental languages Podmaryov O.O. and Gusakova O.O. presented their research on tools for organizing distance learning of students by means of information and communication technologies.

The reports of future orientalists Yu. Kotsar, K. Popadyuk, I. Lapygina, V. Chekhlata, A. Horlach, O. Ptakhina, V. Yevteev, R. Oliynyk and others were thorough, meaningful and diverse. Students communicated with scholars in foreign languages, answered questions posed by the conference participants and entered into the discussion, feeling quite confident.

The articles prepared within the framework of the International Scientific and Practical Conferences will be published in the professional editions of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, and the scientific theses of the participants in the directions of the conference will be published in the collection of scientific works.
