“FNS: Days of Science 2021”

On April 22-23, a scientific and practical conference “FNS: Days of Science 2021” was held online at the Faculty of Natural Sciences.
The students and teaching staff began the conference with a minute of silence in memory of the Rector of our University Serhii Savchenko, corresponding member of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Professor, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences.
Serhii Viktorovych was a wise leader, a talented scientist and a sincere person. Bright and kind memory of Serhii Viktorovych. May his good deeds forever remain in our hearts, the history of the university and the education of Ukraine.
Traditionally, the conference was opened by Leonid Vakhovskyi, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, Professor, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, who wished everyone to adequately present the results of their research to the scientific community of the faculty and departments. Natalia Matsai, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Associate Professor, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, made a welcoming speech. Natalia Yuriivna congratulated the participants of the conference and noted that the opening of the scientific and practical conference of natural scientists within the framework of “Days of Science 2021” on April 22 is very symbolic, because it coincides with World Earth Day.
On day that various events are held in different parts of the world to encourage people to be attentive to the environment of our planet. According to the tradition of the international community, on Earth Day, a connecting Peace Bell is heard, which was also heard by the participants of the plenary session. The bell calls on the planetary community to establish peace and make efforts to preserve our planet. The educational and scientific activities of our faculty, the departments of the faculty are connected precisely with the study of objects of animate and inanimate nature, therefore, annually celebrates this day by holding actions and events.
More than a hundred participants took part in the plenary session. The plenary session was moderated by Halyna Yevtushenko, Head of the Scientific Commission of the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Associate Professor, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences. The plenary session began with the presentation by Natalia Matsai, Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences. “FNS: Scientific History and the Present”. She spoke about the history of the scientific traditions of the departments of the faculty, noted the scientists of the departments, characterized the features of scientific schools that were created in different years at the faculty.
At the plenary session, reports were also presented on the main areas of scientific topics: “The main directions of selection and technology of growing oilseeds”, Igor Aksonov, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor of the Department of Biology and Agronomy; “Ornithological Research of Nature Conservation Areas in Ukraine”, Halyna Yevtushenko, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Biology and Agronomy; “Geological Significance of Fossil Teeth of Shark Fish”, Mykola Udovichenko, Candidate of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Associate Professor, Honorary Professor.
Historical aspects and the current state of scientific research on the approved scientific topics of the departments were presented in the reports of Serhii Masliiov, Head of the Department of Biology and Agronomy, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor; Iryna Melnyk, Head of the Department of Geography, Candidate of Geographical Sciences, Associate Professor; Iryna Novoskoltseva, Head of the Department of Laboratory Diagnostics, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor; Serhii Petrenko, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Landscape Gardening and Ecology; Larisa Koroletska, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Landscape Gardening and Ecology.
At the end of the plenary session, Mykyta Peregrym, Ph.D. in Biology, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Landscape Gardening and Ecology, proposed the report “Civil Science: Time to Participate”, which provided information on modern approaches to the study of natural objects and the possibilities of using familiar smartphones in mass information collection about objects of nature.
Each report of the plenary session, presented by scientists of the faculty, caused a lively discussion. Thanks to the speakers for the presentation of their reports. We wish everyone fruitful and interesting work at the breakout sessions!
