Receiving an Award at the All-Ukrainian Competition of Students’ Research Papers

A student of the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology won the award at the All-Ukrainian Competition of Students’ Research Papers.
Every year the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology of the Faculty of Foreign Languages prepares students for participation in the All-Ukrainian competition of students’ research papers in Romance languages, methods of teaching Romance and Germanic languages, Romance and Germanic literatures and Germanic languages (English, German) and receives honorary diplomas.
This year, despite the fierce competition, a second-year student majoring in Secondary Education. Language and Literature (Spanish, English) Polina Shekhavtsova worthily represented our university and won the award – Diploma of III degree!
The final of the All-Ukrainian competition of students’ research papers in Romance languages, methods of teaching Romance and Germanic languages, Romance and Germanic literature took place on April 15, 2021 on the basis of Kyiv National Linguistic University in the online defense format. In total, more than 60 scientific papers were submitted to the competition, and only 9 were recommended for participation in the second round, among which was the work of Polina Shekhavtsova on Spanish «Linguo-cultural features of the representation of the concept “vino” in Spanish wines».
Together with her supervisor Olena Mykolayivna Byndas, Head of the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology, PhD, Associate Professor, Polina took part in various scientific conferences and tested the results of the research within the I International Scientific and Practical Conference «Actual Problems of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies», dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the National University (Poltava Yuri Kondratyuk Polytechnic), Poltava, 12-13.10.2020; the VII All-Ukrainian Student Scientific and Practical Internet Conference «Romance and Germanic Languages in Modern Intercultural Space», Poltava, November 24, 2020; the X Foreign Scientific and Practical Conference «Eurasian Scientific Congress», Barcelona, Spain, 04-06.10.2020; And the Foreign Scientific and Practical Conference «Science and Education: Problems, Prospects and Innovations», Kyoto, Japan, 07-09.10.2020 with a report «Ethnocultural aspect of the use of the concept “vino” in modern Spanish».
The department is also grateful to the students and their supervisors, who took part in the first round of the All-Ukrainian competition of students’ research papers in Germanic languages (English, German) Kateryna Rozhkova, a 4th year student majoring in Secondary Education. Language and Literature (English), supervisor S.O. Shekhavtsova, and in Romance languages, methods of teaching Romance and Germanic languages, Romance and Germanic literature Victoria Tarasovska, a 4th year student majoring in Secondary Education. Language and Literature (English), supervisor О.М. Byndas. This time they only needed a few points to participate in the second round.
