Unheard loss

Today the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology has suffered a big loss. The long-term Head and Professor of the Department of Pedagogy, Rector of the University, talented scientist, wise mentor, spiritual friend, loving family man Serhii Viktorovych Savchenko passed away.

Serhii Viktorovych is a great Person, Professional, Scientist, Patriot of Ukraine. In the tragic time of the war in the East of Ukraine for Ukraine, under his leadership, the University not only withstood, but also showed an example of courage, invincibility, devotion and love for the Motherland; retained its reputation, recovered and again took a leading position in the educational space of Ukraine. Together with a team of teachers and students, a large army of military personnel participating in hostilities, Serhii Savchenko created a real outpost of Ukrainians in the Far East of Ukraine, a united front in the struggle to uphold high national values ​​- freedom, democracy, sovereignty, independence.

At the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology, Serhii Viktorovych created a scientific school on the problem of the person’s socialization. Under his supervision, 3 doctoral dissertations and almost 50 candidate’s dissertations were defended; issued more than 100 scientific papers, including in journals in the scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science.

Serhii Viktorovych will always be for us an example of high education, intelligence, tolerance, courage, patriotism, love for the alma mater, devotion to Ukraine.

The team of teachers and students of the Educational and Research Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology, the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine bow their heads low in memory of the legendary personality of our time, expresses sincere condolences to the large family of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
