The students and teaching staff of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University expresses deep grief over the death of Serhii Savchenko.
It is an incomprehensible loss! On April 19, 2021, the Rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Serhii Savchenko died.
The life of Serhii Viktorovych was completely devoted to science and his native university. He is an example of constant development and scientific growth. Before his eyes, the higher education institution outgrew from the Voroshilovgrad State Pedagogical Institute named after T.G. Shevchenko to Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. Thanks to his dedication, education and professionalism, he was able to reach professional and scientific heights from the status of a graduate (1981). In 2014, risking his life, he organized the evacuation of our university to the city of Starobilsk.
Serhii Viktorovych is an example of scientific growth. So, in 1996, he held the position of senior lecturer at the Department of Pedagogy and Methods of Educational Work at LTSNU. However, in 2005 he was already awarded the degree of Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences and the academic title of Professor. Due to his unique knowledge and aspirations for the development of his native university, he was elected Rector of Alma-mother three times. His high scientific achievements are the driving forces in the Ukrainian pedagogical education.
It is impossible to realize this! The personality of Serhii Viktorovych will go down in history as a leading scientist, talented and wise leader, highly qualified teacher, selfless friend, mentor and reliable advisor. His loss is a huge misfortune for the entire university family. High education, warmth and amazing intelligence made cooperation with him unforgettable.
We bow our heads low before his departure into eternity and express our sincere condolences to family and friends.
He will forever remain in our hearts. Everlasting memory…
