9.4.2021
Students of the Foreign Languages Department joined the online seminar EducationUSA in Ukraine, conducted by Kateryna Alexandruk, a representative of EducationUSA.
America is number one in the world, which attracts students to study. After all, studying in America is not only an academic but also a cultural experience that is necessary to improve language skills and the intercultural aspect of future foreign language professionals. Students got acquainted with the Open Doors Data for the 2019/2020 academic year, which showed considerable interest in higher education in America. The unique attributes of the US higher education system, as well as degrees and institutions of higher education, were reviewed. Of great interest was the variety of exchange programs: FLEX, Global UGRAD, SUSI, Fulbright Program, Professional Fellows Program, Hubert H.Humphrey. Not the least attention was drawn to summer internships and summer research schools, as well as exchange programs of the US government. Not only undergraduate and graduate students had nice offers, but also postgraduate students and teachers have the opportunity to take advantage of various, promising programs for their research and further education: Postdoctoral Fellowships, Global Scholars Program, International Short-term Visitors Grants, Visiting Scholars Fund, Research Fellowship at think tanks. Currently, the intercultural experience of teachers of higher education institutions in different countries is relevant.
All participants received an answer to the most important question: “Why and how to receive further education?”. Development of new skills, high earnings, change of profession, career development, acquisition of specialized knowledge and development of professional connections – all this is provided by US higher education institutions to future Ukrainian specialists. It also provided detailed information on choosing a college or university to study, and explained step by step where to start and how to prepare the necessary documents. Students asked their troubling questions, to which they received an accessible and detailed answer. The Foreign Languages Department is grateful for such an opportunity and valuable information to get closer to the educational opportunities of another country.
