Meeting of the Academic Council

Meeting of the Academic Council was conducted on October 30 at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

The agenda included the following items: on the results of entrance campaign 2015 and its preparation for 2016 (speakers – Ya.I. Yurkiv, the executive secretary of Admission Committee and I.O. Lysenko, the Head of Marketing Department); on the changes in government regulation of licensing and accreditation procedures for higher educational establishments and preparation for its conducting at LNU (speaker – O.M. Ternovets, the leading expert of the Department of Quality Management of Educational Process Planning).

Ya.I. Yurkiv noted regarding the first item that during preparation for the entrance campaign 2015 the following were developed and approved:

• Admission Regulations for the university and its subdivisions in 2015;
• list of programmes, specialities, entrance examinations in junior specialist, bachelor, specialist and master’s degree;
• all necessary examinational materials for entrance examinations;
• main structural subdivisions of Admission Committee;
• Admission Committee, Marketing Department, faculties, institutes and subdivisions performed advertising and career-guidance work.

Yaroslava Ihorivna gave objective and subjective reasons of reduction in number of students: insufficient career-guidance work with the applicants; number reduction of school leavers; mistakes while defining the list of competitive subjects for certain specialities; impossibility of many students to move from the occupied territories for the state final attestation and obtaining state-recognized educational documents; complications of registration for EIE and participation in it due to pass control and high travel cost; impossibility of on-time submitting original educational documents to the university from the occupied territories due to war operations.

I.O. Lysenko listed the main directions of advertising and career-guidance work:

• organization of career-guidance visits to the schools of Luhansk and Donetsk regions. All districts of Luhansk region and some districts of Donetsk region were assigned to the institutes and faculties due to distance and their wishes.
• support of positive image of the university and applicants’ opinion regarding their future education at LNU with the help of media (print, e-Media: TV, the Internet and social networks).
• Work of press-center, cooperation and advertisement in media.

Pro-rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work Dmytro Viktorovych Uzhchenko reported on the competitive things. Andrii Serhiiovych Hapotchenko stood for the position of the Director of “Professional Lyceum of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University”. Viktor Mykolaiovych Tkachenko stood for the position of the Director of “Shchastia Professional Lyceum of Automobile Transport of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University”. All candidates were elected by secret voting.
