Never Forget the Fallen Heroes!
28.10.2015
Today a war stand-memorial to the heroes of Starobilshchyna and ATO soldiers has been opened at LNU.
It is so difficult to speak about the deaths but when the best and young pass away it is much more painful.
Today our university has opened a stand-memorial with the pictures of died heroes who have given their lives for the future of Ukrainian people:
- Ivan Volodymyrovych Kulish, died in July 2014 in the battle near the village of Heorhiievka, Lutuhyno district;
- Serhii Serhiiovych Fedorov, died in August 2014 because of fatal wounds received in the battle near the village of Khriashchevate;
- Yurii Viktorovych Poleno, died in October 2014 in the battle for the independence of Ukraine near the village of Slavianoserbsk;
- Roman Vasylovych Verbetskyi, died on October 31, 2015 in the battle for the city of Vuhlehirsk in the city of Debaltsevo;

- Oleksandr Mykolaiovych Liveryn, he died in the city of Zolote on June 21, 2015.
Our countrymen were fighting for Ukraine, standing on guard of freedom and independence. They gave their lives for us, our life and freedom.
The memorial was opened by Rector of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University Serhii Viktorovych Savchenko and student of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology Kateryna Sikilinda.
Halyna Stepanivna Poleno, mother of died hero Yurii Poleno was present at the meeting. Her words touched everyone.
“Mummy, I have served in the Ukrainian army! I have given the oath of allegiance to people of Ukraine, I can not stay away, this is my duty to the country”, – Halyna Stepanivna shudders at the memories of her son’s words. No one could hold back tears…
Volodymyr Oleksiiovych Vinnyk, public person, volunteer, told about the died heroes, described the last minutes of their lives. Everybody felt not only sorrow but the endless proud for our compatriots and all defenders of our Motherland.
The memory of our heroes will live as long as we are alive. Every day they will meet us and look at us, remind each of us that they have given their lives for us, for our living in a peaceful blossoming Ukraine.
Heroes do not die! They will in our hearts forever…
