On March 26, an open lecture dedicated to the Day of Patients with Epilepsy was held at the Educational and Research Institute of Economics and Business.
Every year on March 26, the world marks the Day of Patients with Epilepsy. Cassidy Megan, a 9-year-old girl suffering from epilepsy, proposed to mark this date under the title “Purple Day” in 2008 to show that people with such a diagnosis are the same as healthy people.
Cassidy’s initiative was supported in different countries of the world. Since 2009, every year on March 26, activists have been disseminating information about epilepsy and the necessary first aid for people with this disease. There are many such people in the world. Epilepsy is considered one of the most common chronic neurological diseases in humans. It manifests itself in sudden seizures.
On March 26, an open lecture dedicated to the “Purple Day” was held at the Educational and Research Institute of Economics and Business. The event was attended by Andrii Neshcheret, a representative of the Red Cross in Ukraine. He shared valuable knowledge and dispelled myths about providing first aid to patients with epilepsy. Andrii Nescheret emphasized that all actions must be correct, clear and consistent.
Also, a representative of the international organization provided practical advice on first aid for people with epilepsy before the arrival of medical workers.
After the end of the lecture, students hung up purple ribbons as a sign of support for people living with epilepsy.
