On March 24, an event for the first-second year students majoring in “Tourism” and “Hotel and Restaurant Business” was held in the library of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.
The students met with the famous local historian of the Starobilsk region – Dmytro Lukianenko. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Director of the ER ICSTT for social and humanitarian work Mykhailo Chumak and teacher of the Department of Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Business Anastasia Sycheva. Also, the event was attended by schoolchildren of the 9th grade of the railway school No. 1 in Starobilsk city, who go to the local history circle of their school and dream of connecting their lives with the tourism industry in the future.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mykhailo Chumak introduced the guest to the education applicants and emphasized the importance of such events in the process of training tourism specialists. It is the ability to operate with information and present it to the listener – this is an important quality for specialists who, according to their activities, must correctly present a particular area, develop tourist routes and organize excursions.
Dmytro Lukianenko told about the history of Starobilsk, from the traces of the first settlements of primitive people to the pages of our time. The presentation “Starobilsk is the first among the first, equal among equals”, prepared by the local historian, aroused particular interest. The attendees learned about the legends of the city, outstanding figures, records and achievements of Old Believers, as well as about the streets of other cities and Ukrainian military boats, which are named after our city. According to the 2nd year student Yaroslav Vozniak, this meeting made it possible to get acquainted with valuable and unique information that reveals the huge tourism potential of the city of Starobilsk.
Dmytro Lukianenko managed to show Starobilsk as an organic and integral part of the common Ukrainian history, and turn the meeting into an interesting journey to the mysterious past, which inspired education applicants to develop new interesting tourist routes in the future.
