Monopoly Championship

The Institute of Economics and Business held the Monopoly Championship.

Monopoly is a popular game in the genre of economic strategy. The history of this game begins in 1935, when it was patented by Charles Darrow. Since then, millions of players have been competing with the goal of rationally using start-up capital to bring other players into bankruptcy. And championships are regularly held in the world, where connoisseurs of the game compete for victory.

Students and teachers of the Educational and Research Institute of Economics and Business are also addicted to this amazing game. On March 18, students took part in the Monopoly Championship dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the university. 

Preparation for the event was long, since such a tournament is being held for the first time at the institute. That is why it was decided to dedicate it to the 100th anniversary of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. Teachers and students together discussed the format of the games, which would allow to objectively determine the winner. The chairman of the Youth Business Club Yana Kulyk and the chairman of the scientific committee of the student directorate of the institute Yaroslava Vynnyk took an active part in organizing the championship.

On March 18, the Monopoly Championship took place in the coworking space. The event consisted of three stages: a training game, qualifying games and the final. All participants were divided into teams, each of which was assigned a “banker”. He made sure the players followed the rules.

First, a training game took place, where all participants had the opportunity to once again learn about the rules of the game and choose a suitable strategy. After that, the qualifying games began, as a result of which four finalists were determined.

In the final, all participants played a game “Corporation Ukraine”, which was recently acquired for the Youth Business Club. According to the results of the final, 3rd year student Anastasia Sobol became the winner. The second place was taken by the 3rd year student Maria Soloshenko. The third was the second-year student Oleksandra Ivanova.

Students liked this format and it was decided to regularly hold Monopoly competitions.
