Results of the traditional illustration competition

On March 9, the winners of the competition for illustrations to the works by Taras Shevchenko were determined.

The competition was timed to coincide with the 207th anniversary of the poet’s birth and the 100th anniversary of the university’s foundation and was held as part of the traditional events of Shevchenko’s week, which are annually held at Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University.

19 creative works were presented to participate in the competition. Among the authors were higher education applicants of the Educational and Research Institute of Commerce, Serving Technologies and Tourism, Brianka College, Starobilsk Humanitarian and Pedagogical College, Lysychansk and Kadiivka Pedagogical Colleges of LTSNU.

Participants of the competition traditionally turned to the most famous poems of Taras Shevchenko, depicted images of iconic characters of Taras Shevchenko, embodied in colors poetic landscapes from his works.

When choosing the winners, the jury members took into account the originality of the interpretation of the literary work, skill, technique and perfection of performance. The illustrators demonstrated creativity in the artistic performance of their works and skillful use of various drawing techniques: oil, acrylic paints, gouache, watercolor, pencil, pen, etc.

The first place was awarded to Albina Matveeva, first-year student majoring in Design (Graphic) of the Educational and Research Institute of Commerce, Serving Technologies and Tourism.

The second place was shared by Alina Kholosha  and Valeria Yefremenko, third-year students majoring in Design (Graphic) of the Brianka College of LTSNU. 

The third place was shared by Diana Kukleva, first-year student majoring in Design (Graphic) of the Educational and Research Institute of Commerce, Serving Technologies and Tourism, Maria Vinnik  and Yesenia Golenia, third-year applicants for professional higher education, and Maksym Kopotilov, first-year applicant for professional higher education majoring in “Design (Graphic)” of Brianka College of LTSNU. 

In the “Creativity” nomination, the best was an illustration by Yevgenia Buriak, third-year applicant for professional higher education majoring in Primary Education of the Starobilsk Humanitarian and Pedagogical College of LTSNU. 

Olena Belevtseva, first-year applicant for professional pre-higher education majoring in Preschool Education of the Kadiivka Pedagogical College of LTSNU, was awarded for active participation in the illustration competition.

Also, the university diplomas for participation in the illustrations competition to the works by Taras Shevchenko were awarded to Anastasia Scheleva and Polina Romycheva, third-year applicants for professional higher education majoring in Primary Education of the Lysychansk Pedagogical College of LTSNU, and Maksym Bilokin, second-year applicant for professional pre-higher education majoring in Design (Graphic) of the Brianka College of LTSNU.
